Interview Courtney & Toby

How did you both meet?

We met in school, friends for almost 10 years before we took the leap

How did he pop the question?

We had sadly just gone through a miscarriage so his original plan went out the window at our first morning out together since, he took me down to the beach and got down on one knee. It was perfect & just what we needed at that time.

(note we are currently expecting a baby boy due to arrive September 2021 ☺️)

What type of wedding did you plan? What was your theme?

Our wedding like most lately was planned in the thick of covid. It was a difficult time but it didn’t shadow our excitement one bit! Our theme was blush, bright and whites. I wore my dream princess dress and I wanted our wedding to be a similar fairytale vibe.

We planned originally for a 80 person wedding and with everything surrounding covid cut back to 55 people. It was a beautiful intimate day & restrictions just eased in time for us to have the most perfect day full of love.

What quirky features made your wedding unique?

Haha, I ordered Toby and the groomsmen pink socks with my face all over them... that in itself was meant to be a statement. Well they turned up two days before the wedding with MINE & MY MUMS face on them. Can confirm we cried, we laughed aaaand they still wore the socks.

We also rock paper scissored in our ceremony about how our first kiss happened lol

Where did you hold your ceremony?

Inside our function room at City Beach. It was going to be up next to the lighthouse but with those winds, we made the call to have it inside and it was PERFECT! Michele and the team set it up just gorgeous.

Why did you choose City Beach?

It had everything and more that we were after. Ocean views, luxury function room, cost friendly & super helpful staff!

What was it like dealing with the wedding coordinators?

We LOVED working with Michele. She made our planning experience so easy and painless. We always had a laugh with her and she always got back to us in a timely manner about all questions big or small. She also was very comforting when it came to Covid restrictions and how we could still have a beautiful wedding around these rules if we had to. Such an over all gem of a human!

What’s your #1 song that had to be in your playlist?

Horses by Daryl Braithwaite. We had a night out with one too many wines once and had a very memorable dance to this one

What was your most memorable moment from the day?

Definitely announcing our pregnancy at the reception! We were 12 weeks pregnant at our wedding so getting to tell our loved ones about our little miracle is something neither of us will ever forget.

Any advice for couples about to tie the knot?

Have a plan but be open to things not going 100% to plan. (hint they never do). Way easier said than done but try slow down as much as you can on the day and just look around, take it all in & enjoy it. - it goes soooo fast & you hardly remember a thing!

What was the funniest thing that happened?

I (bride) said “yep” into the microphone instead of “I do”. I will never hear the end of it from both my husband and family/friends haha

What parts made you cry?

All of it! I feel like we cried all day! My husbands vows, our baby news, my husbands brother was stuck in America and we had a video message from him, dance in memory of my grandfather, first dance. Oh my the list could go on! We had the most beautiful, emotional day.
