How did you both meet?

We met through a mutual friend having coffee at Gloria Jeans – it wasn’t a set up, we just got on really well and made plans to meet up again. Things just went from there.

How did he pop the question?

When we were on holidays in New York City. We were walking through Central Park and got to the Imagine mural in Strawberry Fields – he knows I like John Lennon and so did my late father – so it was pretty perfect!

What type of wedding did you plan, what was your theme?

I don’t think I really had a theme, it all emerged from an idea of simple elegance.  I just wanted things to look elegant – and everything was – from the centerpieces to the colours and flowers, the backdrops and the dresses. I wanted a wedding where everyone had fun – so we needed a place to dance, a photo booth and a candy buffet.

Which quirky features made your wedding unique?

We entered the reception to fireworks, we had a Polish tradition at the start that involved cherry vodka, bread and salt. We had fireworks and dry ice during the first dance. The candy buffet was coloured to match the wedding. The photo booth produced some amazing memories of our guests we didn’t get to see.

Where did you hold the ceremony?

Wollongong City Gallery – we had a string trio which sounded great with the cathedral ceilings.

Why did you choose City Beach?

The venue location, space, price and staff.

What was the most memorable moment from the day?

It was all fantastic, hard to pick the most memorable. Perhaps just the quiet moment of talking to each other during our first dance with fireworks and dry ice making the scene so romantic – or people dancing and laughing (so much laughing) or even at the very end, the Groom and Best Man drinking beer out of their shoe imitating Daniel Ricardo.

What was it like dealing with Wedding Coordinator Hannah?

Hannah was an absolute dream at every stage. Well organised, really thoughtful and caring. Asked the right questions, gave great suggestions throughout the whole process. I really didn’t have to do much at all – and when I turned up it was fantastic!

What’s your No.1 go to song that had to be included in your playlist?

All family functions include Khe Sahn – it’s like a tradition now it gets everyone up and belting out the words.

Who was your photographer for the day?

Jason Cole and Tony Alekovski from Cole Studios

Any advice for couples about to tie the knot?

Don’t stress over anything – it all works out in the end. Get a great photographer and wedding coordinator like Hannah! Most importantly make sure you have fun!
