City Beach caught up with newlyweds  to ask them a few questions about their special day.

How did you both meet?

We met through a mutual friend at Canterbury Races, it was a great day out. He was winning a lot and I lost every bet. But, that same night Glenn asked for my number and the journey together started from there.

How did he pop the question?

Glenn told me we were going to his work friend’s 30th birthday party which he was having on a boat with a few friends. In the lead up I asked questions like what we should get him for a present, what should I wear & what’s the dress code for the party, how many people are going etc. as I had never met him before. With Glenn quick to answer some of the questions with ‘I’ll ask what he wants’ and ‘we’ll work something out’ and then the day before he finally tells me ‘I told him we’ll pick up the boat from Rose Bay so he didn’t have to make the trek there without a car so I told him we’ll sign off for the boat and that’ll be his present & pick him & others up from the Taronga Zoo wharf’. So…we drove to Rose Bay, picked up the 40 foot yacht and took off on Sydney Harbour. Thinking this is going to be an awesome party, unbeknownst to me, we had gone well past Taronga Zoo and under the Harbour Bridge where Glenn dropped to one knee and popped the question! I said YES!

In the end there was no 30th birthday party and no others coming aboard!I t was a real surprise. The yacht had a fully prepared dinner and we stayed overnight in the middle of the harbour.

What type of wedding did you plan, what was your theme?

Elegant, sparkly and a fun party atmosphere. Ultimately we wanted a bright and happy wedding day.

Which quirky features made your wedding unique?

Silver sequin table cloths, the gelato in between entrée and main to cleanse the palate, our MR and MRS love sign along the bridal table, confetti, and fireworks!!!

Where did you hold the ceremony?

The Rhododendron Gardens in Mt Pleasant. A garden ceremony surrounded by our closest family and friends.

Why did you choose City Beach?

City Beach Function centre was perfect for us!

We looked at roughly 12 or so venues in NSW: in the Sydney CBD, in the Hunter Valley, on the central coast and down south but City Beach stood out and had a lot more to offer than all the other places.

The direct beach front view was amazing and right from the start we felt at ease with Amy when we walked in to view the room.

We loved that it had an all-inclusive package, and we loved the room layout and the twinkle lights on the ceiling!

The food shown to us were normal size delicious meals and well-presented on the plate, and it certainly didn’t disappoint, as guests still say the food quantity and selections were amazing!

What was the most memorable moment from the day?

The whole day was so special and memorable, but our most special moments from the day was the ceremony and being announced as “Mr and Mrs.”

We also loved the fireworks- they were unbelievable and such a surprise. My parents had organised it and kept it a secret. They were set off on the beach while we were all standing on the balcony and we were all so close to the action it was amazing!

The other surprise was confetti dropping from the ceiling when we were about to the cut the wedding cake.

It was so surreal and amazing that all our friends and family were together, in such a magical setting. It really was an incredible gathering of all our wonderful friends we’ve collected together over the last 8 years.

What was it like dealing with Wedding Coordinator Hannah?

We first met Amy and she was great, very accommodating, she answered all our questions and nothing was an issue.

Closer to the wedding day, we met with Hannah and she too was so lovely and friendly. Hannah even stayed back later on the day just so she could see the start of our wedding and my dress, which was so nice!

We honestly can’t thank Amy & Hannah enough for all their hard work to make our wedding day so perfect. They really did bring our fairy-tale to life!

Any advice for couples about to tie the knot?

Do all the prep and planning well before the wedding, that way when it comes to the day before the wedding you can have fun with your bridal party and not have to stress.

Most importantly the day goes very quickly! On your wedding day, soak up all the love, joy and bliss!
