How did you both meet?
We have a lot of mutual friends and had known of each other since late teenage years. I was always scared of Kenny and never knew why, until one day I had a random friend request on good old Facebook, so I thought why not accept?… And now I’m Mrs Lane.
How did he pop the question?
I booked a holiday to QLD for Kenny’s first plane trip and first time in QLD, on our second day there we went to Seaworld after we went on our first helicopter ride, Kenny then took me out to dinner then to the Surfers paradise markets then decided to take a stroll down to the beach. He found a spot that had a beautiful blue neon light background, told me he loved me & I replied with I love you more, within seconds he was on one knee in the sand asking me marry him.
Which quirky features made your wedding unique?
We incorporated our place cards with our bonbonnieres by having a clear box full of lollies with our names on them and a sticker on the front with the guest name, sealing it with some ribbon. Our wishing well was also a clear perspex box, along with the clear martini glass centrepieces. Our entrance to reception, as well as our first dance had fireworks and dry ice along with rose petal canon for cake cutting. I also had my late grandmothers cross sewed into my garter.
Where did you hold the ceremony?
Sandon Point, Bulli.
Why did you choose City Beach?
I had attended a few weddings at City Beach before and loved the view, and location mostly, but also knew food was good and service was great.
What was it like dealing with Wedding Coordinator Hannah?
Hannah is unique. I was worried when I was told half way through planning that our original coordinator had taken maternity leave but Hannah made that worry disappear super quick. From the start until even now after our wedding, she has just been so so wonderful.
What’s your No.1 go to song that had to be included in your playlist?
Horses from Darryl Braithwaite. When we first got together I was playing my phone through an iPod dock and the song came on, Kenny then told me it was his favourite song as a kid, so without saying anything to him I quickly messaged my mum saying “please write the name of my favourite song as a kid” to this she replied “Horses”, I showed Kenny and we were both so shocked.
What was the most memorable moment from the day?
As I got to the alter I put my hands around Kenny’s face, kissed him and thanked him for coming, he giggled and later we joked about it. Kenny’s two boys were included in the ceremony and accepted a vow for me to be Stepmummy to them. Our first dance was amazing due to our fireworks and dry ice.
Who was your photographer for the day?
Sam Syed from Campbelltown was our very talented and amazing photographer.
