How did you both meet?

We had a mutual friend Billy which I liked his picture of him and Garry on facebook which he then added me and we started messaging from there.

How did he pop the question?

We brought our first home together and whilst taking a photo putting the sold sticker on the sign he said ‘I forgot to ask you something, will you marry me?

 What type of wedding did you plan, what was your theme?

Originally we wanted a small intimate wedding but once you start inviting guest the list just went up. We wanted a rustic yet elegant themed wedding incorporating burgundy which is my favourite colour.

Which quirky features made your wedding unique?

We mixed Garry’s Scottish tradition (bag pipes) at the ceremony with my Turkish tradition (turkish drums) as we entered the reception. We took advantage of city beach function centre’s red lighting along the walls and behind the bridal table which really brought the room together.

Where did you hold the ceremony?

The Wollongong head lighthouse.

Why did you choose City Beach?

The view from the room is breathtaking, we wanted an outdoor wedding but worried about the insects interrupting our meals and having the breath taking view made it feel like you were on the beach.

What was the most memorable moment from the day?

Our first dance, we spent months attending dancing classes and it sure paid off.

What was it like dealing with Wedding Coordinator Melissa?

Melissa was always professional and approachable. I never hesitated to ask the thousands of questions which kept arising and she always helped put our stress to ease. 

What’s your No.1 go to song that had to be included in your playlist?

The nutbush, always gets the crowd going.

Any advice for couples about to tie the knot?

Be sure to talk to each other about all the decisions, I know us females get excited and plan the day however having Garry involved made the process easier. Always a wet weather option and on the day 10 things will go wrong but it doesn’t matter ....... just breathe.
