City Beach Function Centre awarded NSW Regional Wedding Caterer of the year in the National Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence.

The awards celebrates the achievements of Australia’s finest hospitality businesses in a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that recognises exceptional service and culinary talent across Australia.

The Awards have been designed to recognise and promote industry best practice and are considered one of the most esteemed in the country.

Operations Manager, Therese Ly commenting on the award ‘2020 has undoubtedly been a challenging year for the hospitality industry, and in particular for the wedding industry. The imposed restrictions completely changed the landscape for wedding events and this award is a reflection of the resilience, professionalism and grit demonstrated.’

She continued ‘Judging took place in the midst of the pandemic, bearing witness to the new regulations which affected key aspects of the traditional wedding reception; appropriate social distancing, likely reduced guest list, no dancing, mingling or shared food service areas. As a venue, we adapted and created new ways of facilitating successful wedding receptions. ‘

Executive Chef, Paul Hamilton commented on the award ‘One of the positives that came out of this year is that it gave us the chance to pause. We had time to be really thoughtful about the dishes on our new menu and experiment with flavours and the presentation.’

This award comes only a week after Steamers Bar and Grill received a Glass Seal for their outstanding wine list from The Australian Wine List of the Year Awards. The businesses at 1 Marine Drive are continuing to establish the spot as an award winning address
